Kenya: AFC Tell Yakhama to Deliver Or Else

Nairobi — AFC Leopards coach Nick Yakhama has been told to deliver to survive at the club.

Club chairman, Alex Ole Magelo delivered the message on Thursday during a Press Conference when he officially unveiled eight new players to the media.

“The results must improve because he has what it takes to beat any team at the moment,” Magelo added.

Leopards have been struggling in their league matches and are currently lying 12th in the KPL league tables.

Yakhama, who inherited the job from Robert Matano, said pressure to perform at Leopards is great but promised to do what he knows best to help Ingwe regain some of the lost ground by the end of the season.

The tactician is remembered for saving the team from the jaws of relegation in 2009 after taking up the job from Edward Manoah, who resigned due to poor performance.

The former international gave up hopes of winning the league title this year when he recently said Leopards should focus on finishing among the top five.

Since taking over in April after a stint at Chemelil Sugar, Yakhama, who was very positive about turning around the club’s fortunes, has lost three out of five matches.

Ingwe lost to Thika United in Mumias, Sony Sugar and Mathare United in Nairobi, but beat Bandari 2-1 in Nairobi before forcing a 0-0 draw against Chemelil.

The team welcomed back its former stars, Charles Okwemba from Rangers FC and Collins Kisuya from Ulinzi Stars.

Ulinzi’s goal grabber, Mike Barasa, Stima’s Francis Chinjili and City Stars’ Jimmy Bagaye have also joined the club.

Other players who have settled on personal terms with Ingwe are a Burundian citizen Jonas Pako, Oscar Kadenge and Robert Siongo.Meanwhile, Kawangware branch of AFC Leopards will tomorrow host AFC Facebook branch in a friendly match at Kabiro School from 2pm.

The hosts coach, Sammy Dutira said his squad includes Joseph Keya, Kevin Litiema, Remichus Mudi, Timothy Lilumbi, Evans Savai, Seth Lugonzo, Maxwell Keya, Zeddy Lifwete, Henry Moi, Titus Mbithi, Bob Anyika, Boniface Lumiti and Martin Anyula.
