SENIOR Chief Mukuni Ng’ombe of the Lenje people has paid tribute to President Rupiah Banda’s Government for increasing the number of schools in his chiefdom, which covers Chibombo, Kabwe and Kapiri Mposhi districts, from 16 to 150 in the last three years.
He said the construction projects had led to an increase in pupil enrolments because in the past some parents were reluctant to send their children to school because of long distances.
Chief Mukuni, who was speaking at his palace in Chibombo District, said under the leadership of President Banda his chiefdom had seen increased developmental activities.
He said there was need for Zambians to give Mr Banda a full five-year mandate to enable him to complete the programmes he had started.
Chief Mukuni said apart from the construction of schools in the three districts which fall under his chiefdom, there were other projects such as rehabilitation of roads going on.
He said it was saddening that some people had failed to acknowldge the efforts of the Government to improve the living standards of the people.
