Goalkeeper Kwarasey Told Black Stars Slot Not Automatic

Adam Larsen Kwarasey must fight for a position in the Black Stars

Would-be Ghana international Adam Larsen Kwarasey has been told by goalkeepers’ trainer Edward Ansah that his place in the Black Stars is not guaranteed.

The Norway-born gloves man was cleared by Fifa on Wednesday, paving way for his Ghana debut hopefully in August against rivals Nigeria.

The Strømsgodset first choice goalkeeper has been hailed by the local media as a heir apparent for the ageing Richard Kingson.

But the 21-year-old has been told he must justify his inclusion to the 2010 Fifa World Cup quarter-final team.

“We have to see him training and what he’s capable of doing and if God willing he’s ready for our next game against Nigeria. I think we will give him a chance to prove himself,” Ansah told Accra-based Joy FM.

“He is coming new into Ghana football. He might have one or two problems but that wouldn’t be that serious but he needs to adjust and work along the other problems.”

He added: “Barring any injuries, we will try him in our next match but that doesn’t take anything away from Richard (Kingson). He’s still our number one.”

Kwarasey must fend off competition from locally-based Ernest Sowah, Sammy Adjei and Daniel Agyei.
