Mandinaba village (the Greenland) will be the host for the finals of this year’s Kombo East annual inter-village football tournament, which is being organised by the Kombo East District Sports Committee in collaboration with the Kombo East Youth and Children Development Alliance (KEYCDA).
Kuloro and Tubakuta villages will be the two teams to contest the finals of the championship slated for Sunday July 3rd 2011. The two villages confirmed their participation in this year’s showdown event after winning their respective semifinal clashes in which Kuloro defeated Sohm by 1-0 with a goal in the closing minutes of the game in Farababanta, while Tubakuta ensured their passage through a post-match penalty shot-out win over Farababanta after a stalemate regulation time of football.
The Touray Kunda familyof Pirang are the sponsors of this year’s tournament, which is in memory of their late relative and former National Assembly Member of the Constituency Kebba M Touray which brings together teams from Tubakuta, Faraba-Banta, Kuloro, Shom, Pirang, Kafuta, Duwasu, Mandinaba and Nigi.
