Luanda — The co-operation between the Russian Federation Parliament and the Angolan National assembly will mainly focus on exchange of legislative experience.

This was announced last Sunday, by the Russian Parliament Deputy Speaker, Nadiejda Vassilieva Guerassimova, on her arrival in Luanda.

Speaking to the press, the Russian MP said that in two days’ time the two parties will sign an agreement that will mainly aim at establishing a legal framework for bilateral co-operation, which is to be based firstly on the exchange of legislative experience, and then on the work of the Angolan parliament for its people.

Nadiejda Guerassimova reminded that the current world already has a high technology for the production and approval of laws, so both parties will use it, “taking advantage of these advances offered by technology (…)”.

The Russian MP also reminded that there are long-lasting and historical co-operation and friendship relations between Angola and the Russian Federation, which go all the way back to the time of Angola’s struggle for independence, which was achieved on 11 November 1975.

She also recalled that in 2009, the Russian President, Dimitri Medvedev, visited the Republic of Angola, in return of a visit paid to that country, two years earlier, by his Angolan counterpart, José Eduardo dos Santo.

Angola and Russia have good relations of co-operation and friendship in areas like transport, education, culture, construction, geology, mining, energy and waters, among other sectors.
