Former Nigeria youth striker Macauley Chrisantus has extended his Hamburg contract so as to be granted a residence permit in Germany.
Chrisantus, 20, was top scorer at the 2007 FIFA Under-17 World Cup, but has yet to make his Bundesliga debut since joining SV Hamburg on a four-year deal four years ago.
“Hamburg have activated the additional year option on the player’s contract. He is happy with that because his target is to get a residence permit in Germany and he will qualify for this after five years there,” a source close to the young striker informed MTNFootball.com.
Last season, Chrisantus was sent on loan to German second division side Karlsruhe, where he scored eight goals in 22 appearances.
Next season, the tall striker will also be loaned out to the German lower tier side FSV Frankfurt.
Ambitious Frankfurt will match the player’s wages at Hamburg.
