Young Korea international Ji Dong-Won admits he is still weighing up whether to join Sunderland or PSV Eindhoven next season.
Chunnam Dragons striker Ji, 20, is being chased by both clubs following his impressive performances with the Taeguek Warriors having scored four goals at the 2011 Asian Cup.
The Jeju-born forward, who previously spent time in England with Reading, told Yonhap News he wants to go where he’ll get first-team chances at a top club.
“My team and agent are still negotiating closely with two teams,” said Ji.
“I personally want to play for the best team I can and where I can get more chances to play.”
Ji admitted those two teams were Sunderland and PSV Eindhoven and according to Ilgan Sports it is the Dutch club who have tabled the better financial offer to Chunnam.
However, Ji added he remains unsure on which side suits him best.
“Eindhoven is a great club that often tops the league, ” said Ji, about PSV, who previously launched the careers of Koreans such as Park Ji-Sung and Lee Young-Pyo.
Ji added: “However, I heard that the Dutch league is not like the old days.
“Sunderland is a mid-level team, so there is always change in the squad. But they are playing on the big stage called the Premier League.”
Black Cats legal director Margaret Byrne told Ilgan Sports the English club were keen to make the move happen as soon as possible after showing interest over a fortnight ago.
“We are still waiting for Chunnam’s official response,” said Byrne. “There are many things to be cleared if Ji needs to be in our pre-season tour. We can’t just sit and wait.”
If Ji was to join Sunderland, he would become the eighth Korean to play in the Premier League.
