Laboratory tests conducted by the Adabraka Polyclinic on the four people who did not take any first aid when they suffered diarrhea after eating food suspected to have contained food poison, indicate that there was no poison in the food they ate at the party.
The Clinic authorities now suspect that the people were poisoned chemically, making it difficult for the Polyclinic to determine the kind of chemical used.
Ten persons were rushed to the hospital last week after they claimed to have eaten jollof rice, plain rice and banku at their grandfather’s 70th birthday party last week. At least one has been confirmed dead. There are also unconfirmed reports of forty (40) others who suffered similar conditions and were sent to various health facilities in the metropolis.
The Disease Control Officer of Osu Klottey Sub-Metro of the Ghana Health Service at the Adabraka Polyclinic, Lord Kpabitey told Asempa News that the victims, now numbering twelve (12), have all been discharged.
