Nikola Saric is delighted to be leaving Liverpool after enduring “three years of hell” with the Premier League club, according to his father.

The 20-year-old has been released by the Reds after failing to make a senior appearance for the club, having arrived in 2008 when Rafael Benitez beat Barcelona and Tottenham to his signature.

Saric was born in Sarajevo but represented Denmark up to Under-19 level, and is now on the verge of joining the Croatian team Hajduk Split.

“Everything is going according to plan and there are no more obstacles for Nikola to move to Hajduk,” said his father, Predrag, according to skysports.com.

“In the next few days he will sign for the next three years.

“He is ready to move on after three years of pure hell at Anfield.”
