Luka Modric will appear in a Tottenham shirt at least once this season after modelling the club’s new retro and bold looking kits for the 2011-12 Premier League season.

The clubs have released the first photos of the new Puma strips as worn by Gareth Bale, Rafael van der Vaart and Modric, who is the subject of interest from Chelsea.

Chairman Daniel Levy has insisted that the club will not sell their playmaker, and the diminutive Croatian appears as central as ever to Spurs’ plans in these promotional shots.

However, it would not be the first time that a club has been left in an embarrassing predicament by a transfer saga.

In January, Liverpool had to remove a mural of Fernando Torres from the outside wall of the Anfield Kop stand as he completed a £50 million switch to Chelsea.

Ironically, Liverpool’s replacement for Torres, Andy Carroll, joined the club on January 31 but left Newcastle fans with a reminder of his stay as he featured as the photo for February on the club’s official calendar.

Roger Harrison, marketing director of Puma UK, commented: “We have enjoyed a very successful relationship with Tottenham over the past six years and have continued to work closely with them to develop another strong range of kits.”

Supporters can pre-order the kits now at the official website, with the home strip out in stores on Wednesday, September 14 and the away strip on Thursday, September 8. The third kit will be the first available, on Thursday, August 4.
