The National Youth Organiser of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), James Kwabena Bomfeh, has stated that it would not matter who emerges victorious at the end of the upcoming congress of the National Democratic Congress because the ‘NDC’s car has itself broken down’.
Whether it would be President Mills or former first lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, Kabila said, the NDC’s car is beyond repair and that nothing can be done at this stage to save the party from going into opposition.
The CPP scribe, popularly known as Kabila, was speaking on Peace FM’s current affairs programme Kokrokoo Monday. He highlighted the need for Ghanaians to ‘park’ the NDC in the 2012 elections since according to him, the party had failed the entire populace by reneging on its campaign promises.
The NDC, during the 2008 electioneering campaigns, promised among other things to improve the living conditions of Ghanaians, provide employment for the youth and reduce the prices of certain merchandise to relieve the people’s economic burden.
But since its assumption into office two-and-half-years ago, the Mills-led government has been accused of incompetence. Many, especially opponents of the administration say the president’s non-performance is the result of the challenge he faces in his bid to lead the NDC again into the presidential elections in 2012.
However, Mr Bomfeh said it was the NDC as a party that had failed Ghanaians, saying that it would make no difference who the party chooses as its new leader.
The only option left, according to Kabila, was for Ghanaians to vote the NDC out of power and elect a better party for an improved governing system.
“…The latest car on the market,” he said, was the “newly and well-branded, furnished Convention People’s Party”.
