An administration police officer was yesterday charged with stealing and forging a KCSE certificate and an identity card in Malindi. Karisa Kenga alias Katana Popo denied the charges.

He was accused of stealing an ID card and a KCSE certificate belonging to Katana Popo between January and March 2003 at Mamburui village, Magarini district.

Prosecutor Paul Okinda said he had no objection to bail. “The owner of the ID has however informed me that the original police file disappeared mysteriously while the case was under investigations. He requests for an order that the file be kept under lock and key,” Okinda said. Kenga was released on a Sh200,000 cash bond and a surety of a similar amount. The case will be heard on July 8.
