Standard Chartered Bank believes that education provides a platform for the development of people and communities and thereby the progress of communities. In its bid to make a positive impact in the communities it operates in, the Bank sponsored the final competition of the Bansang Cluster Education Committee’s Inter-Schools Debate and Quiz competition as an indication of its commitment to being a force-for-good for the progress of this country, for its people and communities
The Quiz/Debate competition involved 10 schools; 1 Senior Secondary, 1 Upper Basic, 2 Basic Schools, and 6 Lower Basic Schools which are all situated in Upper Fulladu West District in Central River Region South.
The Quiz and debate topics were drawn from General knowledge (e.g. Mathematics, English, General Science, History etc) with the topic for the debate being on ” Banking is the most safe and efficient way of keeping money”.
The winning schools were;
Bansang Upper Basic School were the Winner of the Debating Competition
Njoren Upper Basic School were the Runners-up for the Debating Competition
Bansang lower Basic School were the Winners of the Quiz Competition
Njoren Lower Basic School were the Runners-up for the Quiz Competition
Mabally Kuta lower Basic school were on third place to the Quiz Competition
Prizes were also given to the Best performing students in both the Quiz and debate competition. Abdou Saho of Bansang Upper Basic School was declared the winner of the Most Performing Student on the Debate Competition and Sonna Darboe of Bansang Lower Basic School was also declared the Most Performing Student in the Quiz competition.

Sololo Basic Cycle School
Momodou E. Jallow, Branch Operations Manager in Standard Charter’s Basse branch who represented the Bank said, “We are delighted to sponsor this learning and development programmes in partnership with the Basang Cluster Education Committee.
