The Zambia 15s rugby squad which leaves for Cameroun tonight wound up preparations for the Confederations of African Rugby (CAR) Africa Cup qualifier yesterday with coach Robertson Kang’ongwe optimistic of a positive result in Yaoundé.
Kang’ongwe said the team wrapped up preparations for the West African outing where they will play Cameroun and either Senegal or Botswana depending on the result of the opening game.
Kang’ongwe said the players had come through unscathed in the last two training sessions and the team is upbeat despite the four players that have been ruled out through injury.
“We are fine today; at least we don’t have any more injury worries in camp. The players are looking forward to the outing. The competition for places in the team was very stiff,” the coach said.
He said the team is expected to acclimatise to the weather patterns currently prevailing in Cameroun where minimum temperatures are ranging from 25-30 degrees as opposed to the fully fledged winter in Lusaka.
