Swansea City could be closing in on a swoop for former Spanish international Marcos Senna, with his agent admitting that talks are “going very fast” over a proposed move to the Liberty Stadium.

The midfielder is out of contract at Villarreal but could now be heading for England and the Premier League with the newly-promoted Welsh side.

Eli Coimba, the player’s representative has admitted the two parties are in talks and hinted that an agreement could be close.

“He phoned coach Brendan Rodgers, who speaks perfect Spanish, who told him they wanted him,” he said according to The Mirror.

“I was thrilled because he saw they really want to have him on the team.

“The negotiations are going very fast and could be closed earlier than expected.”

Senna, now 34, won 28 caps for Spain and was part of the squad that won the European Championships in 2008.
