Owen Coyle has admitted that centre-half Gary Cahill could leave the Reebok Stadium this summer, but only at the right price.

Cahill has thrived at Bolton since his £5 million move from Aston Villa in January 2008 and has played three times for England this season.

Goal.com understands that the Gunners are in talks over a move for the 25-year-old, and Coyle has revealed that he might be unable to prevent the player from leaving.

“Ultimately that wouldn’t be my decision,” he told Sky Sports News.

“I would love him to stay and I totally understand you asking the question. He’s a fantastic player for the football club.

“I’m not out there saying I want Gary Cahill to go. All I’m saying is if he is going to go, it’d have to be the right business for the football club. That’s very important.”

Coyle has already seen Johan Elmander leave on a free and accepts that a deal for Cahill could allow him to invest in his squad.

He added: “If there was business to be done with Gary, it might free up some cash.

“But as I’ve shown wherever I’ve been, we’ve always had to work under tight, financial restraints. That certainly hasn’t done us any harm.

“But, equally, there comes a time as a manager when you want some help and finance might have to be made available.

“Time will tell but whatever I’ve got I’ll make the best of, as we’ve always done.”
