Bayern Munich are closing in on the signing of Blackburn Rovers striker Toni Vastic, the player and his agent have confirmed.
Vastic, an Austria U-17 international, is known for his work rate and technique, and can play in a variety of positions other than centre forward, which has helped to attract Bayern’s attention.
“There are only formalities to clarify,” the 18-year old told Sportnet.At.
“The transfer is fairly certain, though still not 100 per cent settled. We are still waiting for Blackburn Rovers to agree to release him,” added agent Sascha Empacher.
Vastic made nine substitute appearances for the Blackburn reserves last year, scoring six goals.
The talented young striker is the son of Austria legend Ivica Vastic, who scored 124 goals in 250 appearances for Sturm Graz between 1994 and 2002.
