Swapo And Angola’s MPLA Youth Leagues to Hold Fundraising Gala for Flood Victims

THE Swapo Party Youth League in Erongo Region in partnership with Angola’s ruling party youth wing, the Youth of the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (JMPLA) are organising a fundraising dinner on July 30 to assist those displaced by the floods in the north of Namibia, and in Angola’s southern province of Cunene Province.

“This is the first time in the history of our country where youth leagues from different countries are joining hands to raise funds and help people that are affected by the floods in the two countries,” said SPYL (Erongo) Secretary Laina Shapanga at a recent press conference held in Swakopmund.

According to her, local and national businesses from Namibia and Angola will participate in the event, and requesting residents of Erongo to donate items for the auction, provide food and beverages, or print posters and t-shirts for the event. Musicians and comedians were also encouraged to volunteer to help in raising funds for the flood victims.

“In return for your generosity, the SPYL Erongo Region and JMPLA Secretariat in Namibia will be printing the names of each business involved with the event in the newspapers of the two countries,” she promised.
