Abedi Pele: Andre Ayew Liked To Be The Boss And Not A Substitute

Ghana legend Abedi Ayew has praised the unyielding bravery of his second son and Olympique Marseille ace Andre.

The three-time African Footballer of the Year has seen his second son rise to fame and emerging as a renowned footballer.

Andre, 21, was voted Marseille’s Player of the season and has been linked with a move away from the Stade Gerland.

At age 19, the offensive midfielder led Ghana to win a historic Fifa Under-20 World Cup in Egypt two years ago.

He also played a pivotal role in Ghana’s last eight appearance at the 2010 Fifa World Cup finals in South Africa.

Abedi, an Olympique Marseille legend, says Andre showed promising prospects of excelling as a top-tier footballer.

“He has always been crazy about football. When I took him with me during warm down sessions with Olympique Marseille, he constantly ran after the ball,” Abedi Pele is quoted as saying.

“He played for my team (in Ghana), but his problem is that he did not accept being a substitute. But he was only thirteen and the others were eighteen years old. This strong character was his trademark.

He added that: “He was already hard on himself, he liked to be the boss, the leader. Dédé was not afraid of anyone, I have seen him having a go at some really big players.”
