THE Karas Rally for Democracy and Progress regional secretary, Willem Stephanus, on Wednesday spent a few hours behind bars after an arrest warrant was issued over a traffic fine he had failed to pay.
Stephanus was caught after he had exceeded the speed limit in a 60 km/h zone and was fined N$1 000.
However, following his court appearance half the fine was suspended and Stephanus was given a deferred sentence to pay the first N$250 on April 7 and the rest on June 6. He failed to pay the fine.
Following his arrest on Wednesday, Stephanus was released after a few hours when he paid the N$500 fine in full, The Namibian was informed.
