One of The Gambia’s finest radio presenters cum artist, DJ G- Faal of West Coast Radio, recently signed a contract deal with a Florida-based Record Label called ‘Jump Street Records'(JSR) in the United States of America.

Born Gibril Faal, the rising reggae dancehall selector in recent years has carved a niche for himself both home and abroad resulting to his ever-growing fans base among dancehall enthusiastes. The deal, which is expected to span several years will give the star an opportuinity to release songs as the record label will be wholly responsible for production, marketing and world tours among others.

JSR is the world market for talents and is a growing label that is seeking for talents the world over that could be the next 50’Cent’s, the next Akon’s, the next Gyptian’s or the next Rihanna’s with the best staff of producer’s to select the artist and know who have the talent and potentials. The move that was described as a move in the right direction especially by the fans of the Gambia, came as a result, of a hit song called ‘Africa’ by a Colombian artist, Mc Dementor, two months ago that called the attention of a USA sponsor in the city of Tampa, Florida in the United States of America, to open a label to promote new talents in the world with the name of the label ‘Jump Street Records’.

Alongside other stars recently signed by the label includes a Nigerian, Sudanese and Colombian singers. The song was shoot featuring a Sudanese rapper Mohammed Abd Elateif (Hoodie) and the video clip recorded in both the cities of Khartoum-Sudan and Bogota-Colombia. “The label talent seeker heard too much of Sudanese remix of American artist “Wiz Khalifa”- ball and hustle by Hood Stars gang joining them too to the label that means the gate in Arab world and mid east,” it stated. However, in the projects are some collabos with famous artistes like Shakira and a mundial video clip to be promoted in the main music channels booked in December for film and to be recorded in the city of Banjul -Gambia. “We are making it easier for the hooks and the promotion in the world for artists especially in countries like Colombia, Gambia, Nigeria and Sudan,” stated the website.

Reacting to the new development, G-Faal as fondly called confirmed the story saying “Yes it a genuine contract. Jump Street Records is a new record label created to promote world talents. So it all started when the officials of JSR heard my songs on the internet and called me to inform me that my songs was nice and they would love to work with me. Since then we are doing things together and as of now we have come to terms as the label signed me and they will be responsible for my production, marketing, world tour among a host of others, all over the world. So I think is a big thing for the whole nation to be the first Gambian to be signed by a renowned US label.

Asked as to what is the duration of the deal, the optimistic radio presenter comfirmed that he is hopeful that the duration will be five years after which they will sit again and review the deal. JSR commercial areas of study revolve around the business market variable’s and attack them with this quality values. Jump Street Records is the “Jump” to the world market to the new artist in Hip Hop, Rap, Dancehall, RnB , Pop. It started in June 2011 with the help of three sponsors in the United States of America with four talented artistes, namely Hoodstarz Cheda Gang- Sudan, Mc Dementor – Colombia, Borfi – Nigeria and DJ G-faal – Gambia. Watch out for an exclusive interview with G Faal in our subsequent edition.
