Sporting Lisbon have affirmed that no offer for Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner has been put together.

The striker’s father revealed on Thursday that Sporting are engaged in talks with Arsenal for the player, who is seeking a new challenge in order to find regular first team action.

However, Sporting general director Carlos Freitas has indicated there is no truth to such claims, saying at the official presentation of Stijn Schaars: “There is no offer sent to Arsenal.”

The Portuguese club have already landed Ricky van Wolfswinkel this summer, and reports in the country suggest that coach Domingos Paciencia is still looking for a partner for the Dutchman.

Bendtner, whose valuation is reportedly set at £12 million, is also being targeted by German champions Borussia Dortmund, according to his father.
