Manchester United striker Bebe wants to prove he’s not an expensive flop by having an impressive season-long loan spell at Turkish club Besiktas.

The 20-year-old was signed by Sir Alex Ferguson in a surprise move from Portuguese club Guimaraes but only made seven first-team appearances.

“I was happy to come to the best team in Turkey,” he said, according to The Daily Mail.

“I want to prove that Ferguson was not wrong by hiring me.

“He relied heavily on me, but unfortunately I could not show my value and I want to do this in Besiktas.”

Bebe had only been at the Portuguese club for five weeks – and he didn’t play a game for them either – before United signed the player in a £7.4 million deal.

Ferguson later admitted he had bought him without seeing any footage of the striker in action.

He went on to score six times in 13 reserve appearances and netted in the League Cup and the Champions League.

It is hoped that he can come back from Turkey a different player who could challenge the likes of Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez, Dimitar Berbatov, Danny Welbeck and Federico Macheda for a place in United’s starting XI.
