NBC Supports Business Training

The National Bank of Commerce (NBC) yesterday presented an 18.2m/- cheque to the Equal Opportunities for All Trust Fund (EOTF) in support of three-day training for 250 female entrepreneurs from Zanzibar and Mainland Tanzania.

Handing over the cheque, NBC Head of Marketing and Communications Mwinda Kiula- Mfugale said training for female entrepreneurs was in line with the bank’s policy of job creation.

“Creation of more jobs is critical to our policy of corporate social responsibility… through the support to these 250 entrepreneurs, we will have contributed to the economic liberation of women and thus increasing national income,” said Ms Kiula.

Imparting entrepreneurial skills to women has proved to be highly effective in uplifting small entrepreneurs albeit their small capitals. With business skills, many women have demonstrated capabilities in overcoming business obstacles – marketing in particular.

“Education on capital, credits, marketing issues, quality of products and competition in the market is inevitable if women have to conduct their businesses profitably and successfully,” said Ms Mwinda.

Speaking after receiving the cheque, EOTF Chairperson Anna Mkapa thanked NBC for the support towards the training scheduled for June 23 through June 25, 2011.

Through the training, said Mama Mkapa, women would be skilled on entrepreneurship, malaria, breast cancer and HIV/ AIDS infections as well as issues related to Tanzania Women Bank and Savings and Credits Cooperative Societies.
