One dead, 10 on admission after eating “poisoned” food

One person is reportedly dead while ten others are still on admission at the Adabraka Polyclinic in Accra after allegedly eating poisoned food.

Hospital authorities say the victims are responding to treatment after they were rushed to the Hospital on Monday.

When Asempa News visited the hospital, the victims were wearing diapers to hold the uncontrollable flow of faeces.

Narrating what transpired, one of the victims said on Sunday, June 11, they attended a birthday party for their grandfather at Adabraka and ate rice and stew, jollof rice and banku.

He said some minutes after eating the food, they experienced stomachaches which later extended to severe diarrhea and six of them were rushed to the hospital immediately.

He added that on Monday, June 12, five others were also rushed to the hospital with the same symptoms, but one of them died on arrival.

Staff on duty at the time Asempa News visited the Hospital were reluctant to give further information since they did not have the mandate to do so. The nurses however said they suspect the food contained poison.
