Tottenham youngster Steven Caulker is set to join Premier League new boys Swansea City on a season-long loan, Goal.com understands.
The 19-year-old defender chose the Swans over a temporary move to Norwich and also rejected a return to Bristol City, where he spent last season on loan.
Caulker made 30 appearances for the Robins last season but is desperate to test himself at the highest level and believes he will be a regular starter at Swansea next term.
Spurs have high hopes for the England under-21 and figures within the club have long seen him as the long-term replacement Ledley King. Manager Harry Redknapp and technical co-ordinater Tim Sherwood want Caulker to gain Premier League experience before challenging for the Tottenham team for the 2012-13 season.
Caulker won Bristol City’s young player of the year award last season before suffering a knee injury in March that ended his season.
He will become Swansea’s second signing since their promotion to the top flight following the club record £3.5 million capture of striker Danny Graham from Watford.
Swans manager Brendan Rodgers is also on the lookout for a midfielder to replace Darren Pratley, who looks set to join Bolton.
