Garba emerges Gombe Assembly Speaker

GOMBE – Former Deputy Speaker in the Gombe State House of Assembly, Alhaji Inua Garba, was yesterday elected unopposed as the new speaker of the 4th Assembly with Alhaji Kawu Musa Biri emerging as his deputy.

In his acceptance speech, the new Speaker who announced the names of other principal officers of the House including the Majority Leader, his Deputy, the Chief Whip and his deputy also promised to be transparent in his activities during his tenure.

Garba also promised to work with the Executive to ensure that the  state was moved forward. He pledged to give a level playing ground to all members just as he promised to pursue a harmonious working relationship with other arms of government.

The House later adjourned till June 28.
