Bacary Sagna ‘99%’ committed to Arsenal & welcomes prospect of signing ‘gifted’ Gervinho

Bacary Sagna has ended speculation about his future at Arsenal by saying he is 99 per cent sure he will be there next season.

Sagna is one of a number of players who have been linked with moves elsewhere, alongside Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri, but unlike his team-mates he has come out and insisted he wants to stay at the club.

The Gunners had another disappointing season, finishing in fourth place in the Premier League and failing to win a trophy, but the Frenchman still feels fortunate to be playing at the Emirates.

“I have a very good feeling playing with this team, and I’m convinced a lot of French players want to be in my position,” he told France’s RMC radio station.

“But it’s true I would have preferred to finish the season with a smile and a trophy.

“Everything is possible, but I can say I’m now at Arsenal 99%.”

Arsenal have been linked with 24-year-old Ivory Coast striker Gervinho, who was a pivotal member of the Lille side that won Ligue 1 this season.

And Sagna is excited about the possibility of Gervinho, who scored 15 league goals last season, joining.

He added: “I’ve heard about him. He’s a gifted player.

“This season, he was a key player for Lille, and really help his team to be champion.

“He’s got a wonderful technique on a football field, and I’m sure he would be welcome.”
