At least 9 people and 14 others injured, mainly fighters, have been killed in latest wave of violence that rocked in Garbaharey district in Gedo region – southwest of the Somali capital Mogadishu.

The clashes erupted Tuesday morning, after the Somali insurgent’s al-shabaab face strong opposition engaging Garbaharey and went back after being defeated.

‘The fighting which continued some hours has so far claimed the lives nine soldiers who are strong holders of Area’ an eyewitness said

Garbaharey is located in the western region of Gedo and near the borders with Ethiopia and use to be under Shebab control.

No civilian had been killed in the fight against the powerful militant in Somalia and the strong holders of Garbaharey.
