13 June 2011 editorial Nairobi — There is no known nomination process for Director of Public Prosecution for the Maasai people, for the pastoralist communities, for the Rift Valley groupings or for any other ethnic, communal, sectional, regional or political interest. Mr Keriako Tobiko has been nominated public prosecutor for the Republic, not for a small corner of the country or for any narrow grouping. That is why those individuals or groups seeking to promote his claim to the key public office do him no favour by citing retrogressive clan, ethnic or sectional affiliation.

Nairobi — Pre-match favourites Strathmore University maintained their unbeaten record in the women’s basketball Premier League following their 48-23 win over Kenya College of Accountancy-University at Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday.

The victory saw the Sylvia Njeri-coached varsity students – the only unbeaten team in the 12-team championship having won all their nine first leg matches – moved to the top of the table standings with 18 points.

They dislodged Eagle Wings from the summit to second spot on 17 points.

Melissa Akinyi hit a game-high 12 points for Strathmore while Lucy Machuma shot eight for the losers, who lie a poor ninth place with only one win from seven outings.

In other matches, Lakeside narrowly beat Africa Nazarene University 49-48, Parklands Baptist defeated TrailBlazers 39-36 and Flames of the USIU-A scorched Predators 47-37.

World Hope pipped Lakeside 79-63 as Mennonites men hit Strathmore University 67-60 while Kenya Airports Authority walloped Kenya Polytechnic 55-28.
