Media Minister Meets ITU General Secretary

14 June 2011 N'djamena — The 15th Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), scheduled for next Wednesday in N'djamena, Chad, was adjourned due to technical grounds, an organisation's source has said. On Tuesday the Council of ministers of the member countries of ECCAS discussed the preparation of the grand event. At the venue, the Angolan delegation was led by the State secretary for Foreign Affairs, Manuel Augusto, and integrated by State secretary of Treasury, Manuel Neto Costa, director for Africa and Middle East of Foreign Affairs Ministry, Joaquim do Espírito Santo, amongst the high-ranking officials of State

Luanda — The Angolan minister of Mass Media, Carolina Cerqueira, received Tuesday in Luanda the secretary general of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Hamadoun Toure, with whom she discussed issues related to cooperation between the two institutions.

Speaking to the National Radio of Angola at the end of the meeting with the official, minister Corlina Cerqueira said they had discussed issues related to the role that media can play, by exploiting the potential of new technologies.

The Cabinet minister points out the need for closer relations so that there can be a joint work towards the development of Angola, in order to strengthen peace, allowing the populations of the most remote areas to have access to new free and fast technologies.
