E+Co is a mission driven investment company that provides services and financing to clean energy entrepreneurs in Africa, Asia and Latin America. With a presence in Latin America, Asia and Africa, E+Co invests in local enterprises that identify market based energy solutions that are environmentally sustainable and commercially viable. E+Co is a globally recognized leader in energy enterprise development – connecting organizations, programs, and human and financial resources worldwide to the small and growing businesses required for a sustainable energy future in developing countries. We monitor our investments via impact reporting, based on social, environmental and financial indicators. E+Co secures investment and operating funding from foundations, financial institutions and individuals, in the form of grants, contracts and borrowing. At December 2008, E+Co invested in 242 energy enterprises in Africa, Asia and Latin America, mobilizing over $233 million of capital in addition to the $32 million it placed directly. In 2008, E+Co, through its Investment Committee, Officers and its subsidiary fund management company (E+Co Capital), approved 79 new investments totaling $17.8 million. Between 2009 and 2015, E+Co and its affiliates expect to invest over $100 million. As of December 2008, E+Co Africa has invested over $7.6 million resulting in over 1.6 million people with access to energy services and offsetting over 478,000 tons of CO2.
Country Focus:Â Ghana, Mali, Senegal, the Gambia
Overall Objective:
Support and strengthen E+Co’s portfolio companies to ensure maximum triple bottom line returns.
Tasks include:
- Build a working relationship with entrepreneurs.
- Review existing EDS activities with each company and assess if additional services are needed.
- Track performance of the portfolio companies until E+Co is fully repaid or exited.
- Compile a company overview for each portfolio company to assess progress from disbursement to date
- Outline deviations from investment recommendations; if deviations exist, manage corrections, adjustments and reporting to Portfolio Manager.
- Collect M&E data
- Assess M&E reporting data against current status of company
- Review last 12 months of financial statements to compile financial performance throughout the length of E+Co’s loan; as needed, assist clients in meeting financial reporting requirements
- If an equity investment, prepare a valuation and outline exit strategy options.
- Analyze business challenges and growth opportunities
- If a company is delinquent (with approval from Portfolio Manager):
- Assess current state of business and analyze reasons for delinquency.
- Document delinquency and cure period.
- Engage local legal counsel as needed to utilize local court systems for payment.
- If restructuring is recommended, prepare restructuring plan and review with Portfolio Manager.
- Prepare a quarterly review of portfolio and performance.

- Minimum a Bachelor’s degree in Finance
