Jordan Henderson has expressed his desire to become a regular first-team player at Liverpool following his £16m move from Sunderland.
The England Under-21 international completed his move to Anfield last week after an impressive season at the Stadium of Light.
Henderson will get the chance to play alongside his boyhood idol Steven Gerrard and wants to be a regular feature in Liverpool’s midfield.
“There will be competition at any big club”, Henderson said.
“I’ve got to make sure I work hard and do everything I can to make sure I’m starting in the team.
“I think, if I train well and work hard, I’ll get my chance and I’ll take it.”
The 20-year-old midfielder insists he’s not daunted by the move and is looking forward to playing under Kenny Dalglish.
Henderson added: “I spoke to the manager and he said he thinks I can play in a few positions.
“I’m not bothered where I play, all I care about is making sure that I’m in the starting XI and playing regular football.
“Liverpool have paid a lot of money for me but that shows they have faith in me.”
Henderson will be in England Under-21’s starting side for their clash with Ukraine in Denmark on Thursday.
