Birmingham City face loosing more than their manager this week after Sunderland reportedly made a £5 million offer for their midfielder Craig Gardner.

According to the Daily Mail, Black Cats boss Steve Bruce – formerly of the Blues – will look to make the 24-year-old Jordan Henderson’s replacement after agreeing the England under-21 international’s switch to Liverpool for a fee of £16m.

Gardner was the club’s star performer last year in their failed attempt to avoid relegation and top-scored with 10 goals in all competitions, with Bruce now looking to offer the talisman a chance to stay in the Premier League.

Bruce will also look to seal a move for out-of-contract winger Seb Larsson after the 26-year-old turned down a new contract at St Andrew’s, however intrest in the Swede is high with Arsenal, Newcastle and Blackburn also said to be interested.

It may not stop there either with Scott Dann, fellow centre-half Rodger Johnson and strikers Cameron Jerome and Nikola Zigic all being told they will be sold at the right price as Birmingham’s owners try to sort out their financial situation after relegation.
