Customs Records 61.2 Billion Revenue in May

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced a revenue generation of N61.2 billion for the month of May. Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Alhaji Inde Dikko Abdullahi who disclosed this in a statement issued at the weekend expressed satisfaction at the performance of the service since the beginning of this year.

The statement which was signed by the Public Relations Officer, Customs Headquarters, Abuja , Alhaji Adewale Adeniyi said that the N61.2 billion recorded in the month of May represents about N9 billion over the monthly average collected in the four previous months.

According to the statement, the figure also represents over N1 billion projected for the month which was put at N60 billion.

The Comptroller General tasked all the Customs Area Controllers (CACs) to see the performance as a benchmark for the rest of the year.

Giving an insight into the revenues collected by the service, the Customs boss said out of the total revenue collected in the month of May, N35, 884, 960, 902.57 went into the Federation Account, while N25, 356, 551,758.50 went to the Non-Federation Account.

The Comptroller General attributed the N2, 720, 605, 000 the service realised to servicing Export Incentives through the instruments of the Negotiable Duty Credit Certificate (NDCC).

He commended nine CACs for spectacular revenue feat recorded in their area commands.

Adeniyi quoted the Abdullahi commending the CACs in Abuja at a strategy meeting convened to undertake a review of revenue performance in the service.

In a Commendation letter issued to the Comptrollers, Abdullahi extolled the commitment and dedication to duty of officers and men of the affected commands, which contributed to an achievement described as “unprecedented in the history of the service”.
