“ After a careful analysis of the state of affairs of the nation, especially the failure of successive governments to rejuvenate the economy and to offer job opportunities to Ghanaian people, it has come to the fore that it is only the CPP which will be capable of bringing the real change Ghana needs to march forward,” it said.
In an interview with the Communication Director of the CPP , Mr William Dowokpor, in Accra he said, there was overwhelming evidence that neither the National Democratic Congress (NDC nor the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would be able to deliver the change that Ghanaians desired.
“The NDC and NPP system of economic management for the past two decades has led to economic stagnation, unemployment, poverty, destitution, neglect and the people’s anger against politicians” he said.
Mr Dowopkor alleged that in 2008, there was a massive vote buying scheme through the distribution of cash under the so called Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) programme.
“Other schemes of vote buying included the distribution of cash by the Micro-Finance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC). These monies are distributed to party activists from the polling station to the national level as a form of incentive to get the activists to work to maintain the NDC and NPP in power,” he alleged.
The CPP Communications Director said another scheme used by the NPP to solicit for votes was through the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) where priority of job placement was given to members and sympathisers of the party .
Mr Dowopkor explained that as soon as the NDC came into office in 2009, all the NYEP coordinators appointed under the NPP administration were removed, stressing that even the colour of the working gear worn by NYEP employees was changed from yellow to blue; to clearly distinguish between the two parties.
“In 2008, the NDC in opposition campaigned for change to deliver a better Ghana. After close to three years in power, it is clear the better Ghana will never materialise. Ghanaians are living in a bitter Ghana. As we approach the 2012 elections, we are hearing from the opposition NPP camp, a call for change. How long will they fool Ghanaians with change?” he asked.
The CPP Communications Director further explained that it was time for Ghanaians to look up to the CPP whose policies made the economy of the country amongst one of the best in the world during the First Republic.
“The CPP wishes to remind Ghanaians again, that there is a better alternative in the CPP. There is a better system of governance we can give our selves through the ballot box in 2012. A truly better Ghana for our children and children’s children, if we vote CPP in to political office ,” he said.
