Saint-Etienne striker Emmanuel Riviere says he is extremely flattered to be linked with Arsenal and Liverpool as speculation mounts over his future.
Riviere has been an important part of the Ligue 1 club’s first-team for the past two seasons, as well as representing France at every youth level from Under-16 onwards.
The 21-year-old attracted attention from a number of European clubs before committing himself to a new contract with Saint-Etienne last year, and now it appears he has been identified by both Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger and Liverpool’s director of football Damien Comolli as a top young talent.
Riviere revealed he was flattered to be linked with clubs of such stature, but seemed far more excited by the possibility of joining the Gunners.
“I am flattered to be linked with the clubs mentioned,” he told Sky Sports.
“I am a young player, so to be linked with Arsenal is fantastic for me.
“If Arsene Wenger is interested in you it means you have potential to be a very good player.
“People compare me to Thierry Henry and that is a big compliment. If I can achieve half of his career I will be happy.”
