Manchester United‘s owners, the Glazers, are believed to be considering the prospect of floating the club on the Hong Kong stock exchange.
The American family owning the Red Devils have been much maligned since their takeover of the club back in 2005, chiefly because the club became burdened with a significant amount of debt after they gained control.
It is well known that the Old Trafford outfit have a strong fan following in Asia, and now The Sunday Times reports that the advisers think that the shares could be sold at a higher value in Hong Kong as opposed to London.
The plan is believed to be at a nascent stage, with the Glazers waiting to see how Italian brand Prada does in the Hong Kong market.
It has been reported that bankers have indicated to the owners that Manchester United could be valued at about £1.7 billion, which would be more than twice the amount that the Glazers spent in acquiring the club.
