Newcastle United have rejected a bit from West Ham United for last season’s top scorer Kevin Nolan as his future is in doubt after he rejected the club’s recent contract offer.
New West Ham manager Sam Allardyce previously worked with Nolan whilst in charge of Bolton Wanderers and has reportedly had a £3 million offer turned down by Newcastle, according to The Chroniclelive.
Newcastle are reportedly less than impressed with West Ham’s offer, with Skysports claiming that their sources have described the bid as ‘derisory’.
Newcastle signed Nolan for £4m from Bolton in 2009 and he has further enhanced his reputation with am impressive season last term.
However, he recently rejected the offer of a new contract at St. James’ Park as Newcastle offered him reduced terms as they attempt to reduce the current wage bill at the club.
The 28-year-old was unhappy with the terms offered as he finished the season as the club’s top scorer with 12 goals, though with two years still remaining on his current contract it is believed that any potential suitors will not be able to sign him on the cheap.
Nolan, who turns 29 next week, captained Newcastle to Premier League survival last season and wants to stay at the club despite rejecting the contract offer.
