Gymnastics Elects Geldenhuys Venter As Its President

    Valereis Geldenhuys Venter was unanimously selected as president of the Namibian Gymnastics Federation at its Special Annual General Assembly in Karibib over the weekend.

    More than 40 gymnastics club representatives from all over Namibia witnessed the assembly.

    Earlier this year Geldenhuys Venter was co-opted by the NGF council and has once again pledged her commitment to uphold the quality of development in all aspects of gymnastics.

    NNOC Namibia National Olympic Committee gymnastics representative Ndeulipula Hamutumwa was present during the special assembly. He commented that he is “highly impressed with the efficiency of the council and with the organisation of the different gymnastics codes within the NGF.”

    Hamutumwa invited the NGF to call upon him for any assistance he might be able to render and wished the federation all the best for the future.

    Another addition to the Namibian Gymnastics Federation’s council is Dr. Erich Kesslau, the medical representative responsible for all aspects concerning the federation including Anti Doping registrations of certain gymnasts, training and first aid courses for all the registered coaches in Namibia and many other important issues pertaining to the well-being of gymnasts during competition and training.

    Hedwich Anderson also entered the arena of the NGF council as President of the Aerobic section. Well known in the gymnastics community and having recently started a new club in Windhoek, Anderson takes over the responsibility from Daniel Bezuidenhoudt over the next few months.

    The assembly also elected Brian Masule as the vice-president of it’s finances. Masule is tasked with with attaining financial stability for the federation. He is expected to put together a strategic plan, which will assist the council with various decisions regarding their finances.

    Also, the highlights of 2010 were brought to the table by the presidents of the different sections. This year also looks promising with more than 700 registered gymnasts, who will participate on a national level. The federation also boasted of their high level participation in the Youth Commonwealth Games and the World Championships for this year.
