Fayemi’s Wife Launches Ekiti Development Fund

THE Pro-National Conference Organisation (PRONACO) yesterday reiterated the call for an urgent convening of a National Conference of all ethnic nationalities in the country. A statement by its spokesman, Mr Wale Okuniyi in Lagos urged President Goodluck Jonathan to initiate the drive among the diverse people of Nigeria for national reconciliation and consensus. The group said a sovereign national conference had become necessary to check the growing tension in the country, especially the bomb blasts.

WIFE of Ekiti State Governor, Mrs Bisi Fayemi yesterday launched the Ekiti Development Foundation (EDF), saying the foundation will enable her to work assiduously to meet the yearnings and aspirations of Ekiti people.

Mrs Fayemi also disabused the minds of the people that only members of the ruling Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), will benefit from the progranmme.

The colourful event was attended by many international donor agencies and philanthropists in Nigeria including Aare Afe Babalola (SAN); the Chairman of Elizade Group, Chief Michael Ade Ojo; wife of Lagos State governor, Mrs Fashola, her Ondo counterpart, Mrs Kemi Mimiko, Mrs Olufunsho Amosun (Ogun) and Mrs Florence Ajimobi (Oyo).

Mrs Fayemi disclosed that all the benefits that are attached to the programme will be for all the citizens of the state, irrespective of political and religious affiliations. She had earlier on Thursday launched the Multiple Birth Trust Fund in Ado Ekiti, to  serve as a platform to support  those who give birth to two sets of children and more in the state.

The foundation, she said, would be used to tackle poverty, gender inequality, violence against women, infant and maternal mortality and other ills bedeviling citizens of the state.
