The Local Organising Committee of the 17th National Sports Festival, tagged Garden City Games, has secured the partnership of several corporate organisations in a bid to ensure the event lives up to its billing.
The festival, the biggest multi-sports event in Nigeria, holds in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, from June 27 to July 11with athletes expected from all over the country.
Equatorial Trust Bank has signed on as the official bank of the games, while Coscharis Motors BMW is the official car.
Sovereign Trust Insurance is the official insurer, with Arik Air the official airline.
According to Patrick Ukah of Ventolite Marketing International, the marketing consultant to the Garden City Games, The Sun is the official newspaper, while the Nigeria Television Authority is the official broadcaster.
Ukah, who is also the President of the Hockey Federation of Nigeria, added that the organisers are in discussions with other companies with a view to bringing them on board.
“The organisers are currently talking to MTN and Glo and it is hoped that anytime from now one of them will be named as the official telecommunications network,” he said.
The LOC recently announced that there would be a 24-hour entertainment centre in the heart of the festival venue to make the Garden City Games experience richly enjoyable.
