We write not just as residents from the three Northern Regions in Ghana, but as citizens of our beloved country, Ghana. Our aim is to respond to the unfortunate statements made about Northerners in Ghana by the NPP Member of Parliament for Fanteakwa, Kwabena Amankwah Asiamah and to make clear to Ghanaians, the NPP agenda towards development in the Northern Regions which Mr Asiamah has decided to make public. Mr Asiamah’s comments on radio that “Northerners have turned the North into breeding grounds of violence”, clearly represent the diabolical views of a silent minority of Ghanaians whose attitude towards the people living the Northern Regions in Ghana is creating serious worries for most Ghanaians.

Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins has insisted that the club will not be selling defender Ashley Williams under any circumstances.

The 26-year-old central defender played a key role in the Swans’ promotion to the Premier League but is reportedly on the radar of fellow promoted side QPR.

“We haven’t had any bids for Ashley Williams. We’re not selling Ashley Williams,” Jenkins said to BBC Wales.

Following their victory in the Championship playoffs, Williams is seen as a key component of manager Brendan Rogers’ plans for survival next season.

And Jenkins is all too aware that the team’s eye-catching performances mean transfer speculation will continue over several stars.

“I think we mustn’t forget really that there’s a lot of speculation about players like Neil Taylor, Ashley or a few others.

“Agents in this day and age do, rightly or wrongly, get things out in the press, maybe a negotiation tactic to get more wages, bigger contracts.”

Swansea do not look likely to be a selling club this summer, having already broken their record transfer fee, spending £3.5 million on Watford striker Danny Graham.
