A witness said the incident occurred at 5 am, when a gang of eight armed robbers with sophisticated weapons mounted road blocks and attacked motorist, which led to the collusion of two vehicles that caused the deaths.
He said a commercial bus driver tried to avoid heavy logs of wood on the road and crashed into a truck.
Our reporter gathered from motorists that the robbers attacked their victims for almost two hours and fled into a nearby bush after the accident occurred.
Commenting on the incident, Konton-Karfe unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission, Olusegun Olushola, attributed the accident to road blocks mounted by the robbers.
He said corpses were later identified and handed over relatives for burial, while the injured victims are at Ideal Hospital at Koton-Karfe.
At Konton-Karfe Police Station, a senior policeman confirmed the robbery incident and said the robbers fled before the police arrived.
