The leadership of the Democratic People’s Party (DPP) expressed dissatisfaction over exclusion of the party during the presidential meeting with various opposition parties held on June 1.

The National Chairman of the Party, retired Major General Bashir Magashi said it was improper for the presidency not to recognize and invite DPP for the meeting with parties that have presence at the National Assembly and seek their cooperation to run a collective and all inclusive government.

Magashi who spoke through the party’s spokesman, Mal. Abubakar Ateeku Yusuf, called for corrective measures in that regard in order to carry all parties along and avoid confusion.

On June 1 the President held a three-hour closed door meeting with leaders of opposition parties of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), Labour Party (LP) and All Progressive Grand Alliance. The meeting was shunned by leadership of Congress for Progress Change (CPC).
