Management of the Capital View Hotel in Koforidua have expressed their unhappiness at recent reports that the hotel stripped workers of the hotel naked to search for some missing money.
Deputy Director of the Hotel, Ernestina Djumor admitted directing the search but denied that it was a nude one.
She said personnel from a private security company, Thomas Security, conducted the search on four employees but never took off anybody’s clothes.
Recent reports in the media stated that some staff of the hotel were subjected to a strip search by their managers on suspicion of stealing some money.
The reports said the management had noticed that different sums of money were going missing from the hotel and they decided to put security measures in place to check that but some money was still missing and they decided to search the staff.
Narrating events, Ernestina Djumor said on the morning of May 18, 2011, officials of Thomas Security who had been posted to the hotel reported that they suspected two male and two female workers of being behind the thefts, since they had consistently been reporting to work at unusual times.
She said based on the report, she approved a suggestion by the security personnel to search those four employees adding that the search was carried out in the office of the security personnel, where neither she nor Harriett Djumor, the cashier, was present as has been reported.
Ernestina Djumor added that the security personnel informed her that the employees were asked to empty the contents of their pockets and their bags, but were never made to take off their clothing.
A female security official from Thomas Security claimed she searched the two female employees while a male colleague searched the two male employees.
She also insisted that none of the four employees was stripped naked and challenged any of the “suspects” who were making such claims to come forward.
