Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has stated that Shinji Kagawa will not be sold this summer, despite interest from Premier League champions Manchester United.
The Japan international had an excellent season, helping BVB win the Bundesliga title, and the German champions are unwilling to part with one of their star players.
The former Cerezo Osaka midfielder stated yesterday that a move to Old Trafford would be of interest, but his current employers have other ideas.
“Kagawa’s sale is not an issue,” Zorc told Bild.
The 22-year-old is currently on international duty at the Kirin Cup, and can expect a meeting with club officials to extend his deal at Signal Iduna Park when he returns to Germany.
“Our ambition is to extend early with Shinji. When he returns from leave, we will discuss everything with him in peace,” Zorc concluded.
Kagawa featured in only 18 league games last season due to injury, but contributed eight goals and two assists to the team’s success.
