Bailundo — A group of 10 former members of UNITA and six of the Social Renewal Party (PRS) have abandoned these political organisations and have decided to join Tuesday in the town of Bailundo (Huambo province), in the ranks of the governing MPLA.

Most of them young people aged between 18 and 35 years, the defectors received the cards of MPLA militants, in a ceremony presided over by the first secretary of the provincial committee of MPLA in Huambo, Fernando Faustino Muteka.

The act has also been tapped to present the new members of the executive commission of the party’s provincial committee in Huambo, elected on 28 May during the first extraordinary session of MPLA in the region.

The members of the secretariat of the party’s executive commission of Huambo were also presented to the militants in the city of Londuimbali, some 92 kilometres northwest off Huambo city.

On occasion, the first secretary of the provincial committee of MPLA in Huambo, Fernando Faustino Muteka, praised the initiative of a free admission of new members, who adhered to the policy of the country’s governing party.

“The militants are joining the action committees contributing to development and national reconstruction programme, which is providing the well-being of people in this region,” he said.

Fernando Muteka said that everything points to the spirit of unity and national reconciliation, because there are a lot of people who prefer to choose the MPLA party for conviction in this era of peace that the country lives.
