Mogadishu — Sporadic gunfire and shelling on Sunday morning could be heard in parts of northern Mogadishu.
No deaths or injures were so far reported, but on Saturday heavy battles between Somalo government forces joined by African Union peacekeepers rocked Mogadishu’s Bondhere, Shibis and wardhigley districts.
Prosper Hakizimana,the deputy spokesman for African Union forces in Somalia said they have completely confiscated Bondhere district.
Independent reports suggested the Al shabaab had been dislodged key military bases in north of the capital.
Saturday’s fighting left more 20 people dead and 30 injured according witnesses and medics.
