Luka Modric’s advisor believes the Tottenham midfielder will remain at White Hart Lane despite reported interest from Manchester United.

The Croatian has been heavily linked with replacing the retired Paul Scholes in the Red Devils line-up but his advisor Mario Mamic is sceptical at the chances of a possible move.

“Luka will not go to Manchester United and he will also stay at Tottenham because I know that president Daniel Levy will not let him go,” Mario Mamic told Croatian newspaper Jutarnji List.

The 25-year-old still has five years to run on his current contract and Mamic’s father Zdravko, who is vice-president at Modric’s former club Dinamo Zagreb has scoffed at suggestions of a £20 million fee being enough to prise away the talented playmaker.

“I heard that somebody has offered £20m pounds for Luka but that’s crazy,” he said.

“When we talk about Modric, that price would only be enough to buy peanuts.”

The current Premier League champions continue to be linked with a host of midfield players to fill the void left by Scholes including Inter Milan’s Wesley Sneijder and Borussia Dortmund’s Shinji Kagawa.
